What Happened in Gyirong, Tibet?
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on August 26, 2026, a severe mudslide struck the Gyirong Port area near the China-Nepal border, damaging local infrastructure.
According to preliminary findings released by China's Ministry of Natural Resources, the disaster was triggered by a high-altitude glacial collapse in Nepal. The collapse generated a fast-moving debris flow that picked up glacial deposits as it traveled down the valley. It later developed into a mudslide that struck the Gyirong Port area.
Following the disaster, emergency responders and technical teams arrived at the site to carry out search and rescue operations, assess geological hazards, monitor surrounding mountains and bodies of water, and provide assistance to affected residents.
361° Supports Disaster Relief in Gyirong
Following the disaster, 361° Group activated its emergency response efforts and partnered with the China Youth Development Foundation to donate RMB 10 million worth of emergency supplies to the affected area.
The assistance is intended to address urgent needs in the disaster-stricken communities while also supporting the resettlement of affected residents and subsequent recovery efforts. By working with a charitable organization, 361° aims to ensure that its assistance remains coordinated with local relief operations and the actual needs of affected communities.
As rescue and recovery efforts continue, 361° will continue to follow updates from authoritative sources and remain in communication with the China Youth Development Foundation to provide support based on evolving needs on the ground.
From Emergency Relief to Long-Term Community Support
The Gyirong relief donation is not the first time 361° has responded to a public emergency or natural disaster. From public health emergencies to floods, earthquakes, and fires, 361° has worked with charitable organizations on multiple occasions to provide financial assistance or essential supplies based on the needs of affected communities.
2020: Supporting Hubei During the COVID-19 Outbreak
Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, 361° provided supplies to medical workers in several areas of Hubei Province through the China Youth Development Foundation.
According to publicly available information, 361° used its overseas channels to purchase 2,000 sets of medical goggles and protective clothing in the United States. The supplies were then donated to hospitals in areas of Hubei that were heavily affected by the outbreak.
In addition, the first shipment of 375 boxes of essential living supplies was delivered to temporary hospitals across several districts of Wuhan, with the supplies expected to support more than 6,000 medical workers.
Additional supplies were also used to support healthcare workers in Shiyan, Jingmen, Jingzhou, Ezhou, Enshi, and other areas of Hubei.

361° donated RMB 10 million worth of cold-weather supplies through the Red Cross Society of China Gansu Branch, helping affected residents stay warm during the emergency response and recovery period.
The initiative was subsequently documented in 361°'s 2023 Environmental, Social and Governance Report.

The donation was intended to support emergency relief efforts and help meet the basic needs of residents in affected areas.
The initiative was reported by public media outlets including CCTV.com and was also documented in 361°'s 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance Report.
